Xenia’s Samari Curtis Named Mr. Basketball


Xenia's Samari Curtis was named Ohio's Mr. Basketball and will receive his award on Friday at the boys state basketball tournament.  Samari will continue to play basketball at the University of Cincinnati.  The 6-foot-4 senior averaged 34.4 points per game this season and led the Greater Western Ohio Conference in scoring.  In addition he had 5.8 assists per game which ranked second in the conference.  For his career he scored 2,109 points which is a school-record.  His 816 points for his senior year was also a record.  For the 2018-2019 season he made 224 free throws which ranked ninth in OHSAA history and his 514 career made free throws rank 13th in OHSAA history.  Samari was a first-team All-GWOC selection as a sophomore (23.4 points, 4.6 assists, 6.3 rebounds), junior (29.8 points, 5.2 assists) and senior (34.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.9 assists).  Congratulations to Samari on his outstanding accomplishment!
